Taiwan's Ministry of Finance announced that, effective October 19, 2026, a provisional anti-dumping duty will be imposed on certain polyamide films imported from mainland China for a period of four months. Some of the manufacturers or exporters involved will be subject to a provisional duty rate of 40.21%, subject to a final investigation.

The Ministry of Finance said Taiwan will impose temporary anti-dumping duties on certain polyamide films made in and imported from China for four months from Oct. 19. The government said a preliminary investigation found that the products had been dumped and caused material injury to Taiwan's domestic industry, prompting the temporary measures during the investigation.

According to an announcement by the Customs Administration under the Ministry of Finance, the temporary anti-dumping duty rate for manufacturers or exporters covered by the investigation, other than companies linked to Yuncheng Group, is 40.21%. The rate listed for companies linked to Yuncheng Group is 0%.

Polyamide film is an industrial material, and the relevant trade measures could affect purchasing costs and supply arrangements for importers, downstream manufacturers and domestic suppliers. Temporary anti-dumping duties are intended to prevent the injury preliminarily identified by the authorities from worsening while the investigation remains ongoing.

The Ministry of Finance said the final determination on whether dumping occurred must still be completed in accordance with established procedures. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will also conduct a further investigation into whether the imported products caused injury to Taiwan's domestic industry before the case is reviewed and handled under the relevant regulations. In other words, the measures currently in place are temporary, and the final outcome will depend on the subsequent investigation.

After the measures take effect, businesses should confirm whether their products fall within the scope of the announcement, whether their suppliers qualify for a specific duty rate, and whether adjustments are needed to customs declarations and cost calculations. The actual impact will depend on product specifications, sources of supply and the results of the final investigation.
