Taiwan labor funds post NT$2.44 trillion gains in first nine months, return reaches 30.73%
Total fund assets stood at NT$9.2109 trillion at the end of September as the Bureau of Labor Funds said it would maintain a cautious investment strategy amid geopolitical and market volatility.

Taiwan’s labor funds posted strong investment results in the first nine months of 2026, generating cumulative gains of NT$2.4405 trillion for a return of 30.73%. The Ministry of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Funds released its latest performance figures on Nov. 2, showing that total labor fund assets had reached NT$9.2109 trillion as of the end of September. The funds generated NT$117.8 billion in returns during the month alone.
According to Central News Agency’s Nov. 2 report, data released by the Bureau of Labor Funds showed that the new labor pension fund had assets of approximately NT$6.0622 trillion and a return of 30.43% in the first nine months. The old labor pension fund had assets of about NT$1.2117 trillion and posted a 44.16% return, the highest among all labor funds.
The Labor Insurance Fund had assets of approximately NT$1.6812 trillion and a return of 27.14%, while the Employment Insurance Fund had assets of about NT$190.2 billion and a return of 2.73%. In addition, the National Pension Insurance Fund, managed at the request of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, posted a return of 29.57% in the first nine months. The Farmers’ Pension Fund recorded a return of 40.72%.
The Bureau of Labor Funds said international financial markets in September were affected by tensions in the Middle East, energy prices and inflation concerns. Shifts in US monetary policy and bond yields also added to uncertainty in global markets. International stock markets delivered mixed performances, with some markets facing pressure from valuation corrections, although AI-related stocks continued to provide some support.
In Taiwan’s stock market, strong demand for semiconductors and the AI supply chain helped keep the index fluctuating at elevated levels. However, the concentration of funds in a small number of large electronics stocks also widened market swings. The Bureau of Labor Funds said it would continue to pursue a cautious investment strategy amid multiple risks, including geopolitical tensions, inflation and monetary policy, with a focus on long-term returns.
It is important to note that fund returns reflect investment performance over a specific period and do not guarantee future gains. Nor do they mean that every worker can immediately receive a dividend at the same rate. Actual retirement payments and the distribution of returns in individual accounts will continue to be calculated according to the relevant systems and each account’s circumstances.
