Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense on Nov. 1 released its latest update on Chinese military activity, saying that as of 6 a.m. it had detected 32 Chinese military aircraft, seven naval vessels and two official ships operating in the airspace and waters around Taiwan over the previous 24 hours. Twenty-six of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered airspace north, central, southwest and east of Taiwan.

The ministry said the military had deployed aircraft, naval vessels and land-based missile systems to continue monitoring the activity and take appropriate responses. The ministry releases daily updates on Chinese military activity around Taiwan, providing important information for the public to follow security developments in the Taiwan Strait.

The latest figures show that Chinese military aircraft operated in multiple areas around Taiwan, including the airspace southwest and east of the island as well as areas beyond the Taiwan Strait median line. Military observers have long monitored the frequency with which Chinese military aircraft cross the median line and enter airspace around Taiwan, as such operations could increase pressure on Taiwan’s air-defense monitoring and response capabilities.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense continues to provide public information on Chinese military activity and has stressed that the military will follow established procedures to monitor the situation in the surrounding airspace and waters. Security in the Taiwan Strait affects not only cross-strait relations, but also regional stability in East Asia and international shipping security.
